Balochistan CM Urges Boost in Revenue Collection, Calls for Field Operations Over Desk Work

Quetta: Under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, the third extraordinary meeting of the Balochistan Revenue Authority Advisory Council was held, approving audit rules, digitalization initiatives, and various reform measures.
During the meeting, officials briefed the council on the progress of revenue targets. Chairman Abdullah Khan reported that half of the Rs40 billion target had been achieved so far.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of target achievement, CM Bugti instructed authorities to accelerate efforts and utilize all available resources. “Revenue targets cannot be achieved by sitting in offices; field operations must be intensified,” he said.
He highlighted that non-developmental expenditures are rising, while development resources are shrinking, emphasizing the need to increase the province’s own revenue. He stressed the importance of expanding the tax net, leveraging modern technology, and enhancing the professional capacity of the Revenue Authority through advanced training.
To improve operational efficiency, CM Bugti also recommended engaging private sector experts. The meeting was attended by Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, Chairman Abdullah Khan, Principal Secretary Imran Zarkoon, and other relevant officials.
