Rumors of BAP Merger with PML-N Spark Speculation; Party Leadership Yet to Respond

Quetta: Speculation has emerged regarding a possible merger of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), following reports that some BAP leaders have expressed interest in joining the PML-N. However, no official response or consultation has taken place within BAP regarding this matter.

According to sources, a central BAP leader and member of the provincial assembly reportedly met with PML-N officials in Islamabad and discussed the possibility of merging the two parties. Such a merger could potentially strengthen PML-N’s numerical majority in the Balochistan Assembly and consolidate its position in the province.

Attempts to reach the BAP lawmaker and party spokesperson, Provincial Minister Mir Zia Langove, were unsuccessful. A senior BAP official, speaking to NNI, clarified that no formal discussion has occurred within any significant forum of the party, and any individual expressing merger intentions may have acted independently. The official emphasized that major decisions like this require collective consultation and cannot be made unilaterally.

Similarly, PML-N sources confirmed that while the merger desire has been mentioned, no further action has been taken, and the party’s central leadership has not formally addressed the matter.
