PPP Minister Warns Against Misleading Nationalists, Emphasizes Historical Truth of Kalat’s Accession to Pakistan

Quetta: Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Mir Zahoor Baledi of the Pakistan Peoples Party, has criticized so-called nationalist leaders for distorting historical facts and inciting youth against the state.

In a statement on social media platform X, Mir Zahoor Baledi clarified that the princely state of Kalat did not have an organized state structure comparable to a modern lower or upper house. Historically, a council of tribal chiefs under the Khan of Kalat existed, which granted him the authority to make final decisions regarding Kalat’s future.

He noted that Khan of Kalat, Mir Ahmed Yar Khan, explicitly stated in his autobiography that Kalat was merged into Pakistan through legal and constitutional processes. Additionally, the Nawabs of Makran, Kharan, and Lasbela voluntarily went to Karachi to meet Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and decided to accede to Pakistan.

Mir Zahoor Baledi expressed concern that contemporary so-called nationalist leaders are misleading youth by distorting these verified historical facts. He warned that such leaders, while sitting in Pakistan’s parliaments, deliver revolutionary rhetoric and encourage violence and anti-state sentiments among Baloch youth to keep divisive nationalist politics alive.

The minister stressed the importance of educating youth about authentic history and guiding them toward education, peace, and development instead of violence or unconstitutional actions.
