FIA Cracks Down on Power Theft and Corruption in Balochistan, Recovers Rs825 Million

Quetta: The Anti-Corruption Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency has carried out a major crackdown on electricity theft and corruption in Balochistan, recovering a record Rs825.56 million over the past two years.
According to an official report covering March 2024 to March 2026, FIA teams inspected 17,560 نقاط, uncovering 1,193 cases of electricity theft. As a result, 853 inquiries were initiated and 324 FIRs were registered against those involved. Investigations also exposed financial irregularities amounting to Rs172.98 million.
During the operations, authorities seized 620 tampered electricity meters, 15 illegal transformers, and around 1,300 meters of unauthorized direct wiring used for power theft.
The التحقيق also revealed the involvement of officials from Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO). In overbilling cases, 14 officials were found responsible for inflating 820,606 extra units, leading to seven FIRs. Additionally, 23 officials were implicated in power theft and corruption cases, with six more FIRs registered against them.
The FIA reaffirmed its commitment to continuing operations against illegal activities in the energy sector, emphasizing strict legal action to ensure transparency and safeguard public resources
