ECP Rejects Balochistan Government’s Request to Postpone NA-256 By-Election

Quetta: The Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected a request from the Balochistan government to postpone the by-election in National Assembly constituency NA-256, deciding that polling will be held as scheduled on April 5.
According to ECP officials, the request was forwarded after the Commissioner of Kalat Division sent a letter to provincial authorities, citing law and order concerns and recommending a delay in the by-election. The request was subsequently submitted to the Election Commission for consideration.
After reviewing the situation, the ECP declined the proposal and confirmed that the by-election in NA-256 will proceed on the announced date.
The seat from Khuzdar fell vacant following the resignation of Akhtar Mengal, head of the Balochistan National Party (BNP).
