Pishin Bachao Tehreek Welcomes Formation of Pishin Division, Demands Headquarters Be Near Saranan or Yaro

**Quetta:** The Pishin Bachao Tehreek has welcomed the approval of Pishin Division by the Chief Minister of Balochistan and urged the government to reconsider the location of its headquarters, recommending it be placed near Saranan or Yaro, the central hub of all the districts.
Speaking at a press conference at Quetta Press Club, the movement’s leaders, including Chairman Malik Lutfullah Tarin, President Syed Haji Abdul Basir Agha, and other prominent members, emphasized that they will oppose the creation of districts based on low population until the ongoing case in Balochistan High Court is resolved. They stressed that Pishin should not be divided into smaller parts.
They highlighted that Pishin is the third most populous district in Balochistan, with a population of approximately 836,000 despite a 2023 census reduction of around 500,000 by the federal government. Due to its large population and limited resources, the need for administrative reforms and new districts has been recognized for some time.
The leaders also recounted the controversy over the formation of the new districts Brashur and Karizat, explaining that disagreements over the location of the headquarters delayed notifications and led to protests. The government later restored Pishin to its original status, following demands from the Pishin Bachao Tehreek and public pressure.
The Tehreek appealed to the Balochistan High Court to expedite its decision regarding the November 21, 2022, notification, stressing that any attempt to revive small districts like Karizat (152,000 population) or Brashur (143,000 population) will be firmly opposed.
They reiterated that Pishin Bachao Tehreek remains committed to protecting the interests of the majority population in Pishin and ensuring equitable development and representation.
