University of Balochistan Academic Staff Association Demands Immediate Declaration of Vacant Teaching Positions

Quetta: The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the University of Balochistan has welcomed the recent circular issued by the Governor Secretariat/Chancellor’s Office, acknowledging their long-standing demand to publicly declare vacant teaching positions.
In an official statement, the association praised this development as a positive step demonstrating administrative seriousness and providing reassurance to the academic community. The ASA highlighted that they have repeatedly urged the authorities, including the Vice Chancellor, to ensure that vacant positions for lecturers, assistant professors, and associate professors are advertised promptly, allowing faculty members equal opportunities for promotion.
The association noted that prolonged delays had forced many faculty members to remain in the same positions for 20–25 years due to the non-publication of vacancies necessary for promotions and new appointments.
The ASA emphasized the importance of implementing the circular immediately and fully. They called for a transparent recruitment and selection process for all vacant lecturer, assistant professor, and associate professor positions to ensure faculty members receive their rightful opportunities and to enhance the quality of teaching and research at the university.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for timely and effective measures in the interest of faculty and the broader academic community, while lamenting the frequent unnecessary delays by authorities that negatively impact both educators and the overall educational system.
