Ballistic Missile Intercepted Over Abu Dhabi, Debris Kills 2, Injures 3
Abu Dhabi: A ballistic missile was successfully intercepted over Abu Dhabi by the United Arab Emirates’ advanced air defense system, authorities confirmed, though falling debris from the destroyed missile caused casualties and property damage.
The incident occurred on Sweihan Street, a busy thoroughfare, when the missile was destroyed mid-air in a powerful explosion. Two people were killed by falling debris, and three others were injured and received immediate medical attention. Several vehicles on the street also sustained significant damage from the debris.
Emergency response teams and security forces quickly secured the area, bringing the situation under control. UAE officials emphasized that the missile interception prevented a potentially larger catastrophe.
Authorities urged residents to rely only on official sources for information and to avoid spreading unverified news or rumors on social media. The Ministry of Defense reaffirmed that the UAE’s defense systems are fully capable of countering any hostile threats.
