Dubai Airport Seizes 223 Live Wild Animals from Abandoned Suitcase
Dubai Customs has foiled a major wildlife smuggling attempt after discovering 223 live wild animals hidden inside an abandoned suitcase at Dubai International Airport.
According to officials, the animals recovered from the luggage included lizards, snakes, scorpions, and frogs. The creatures were allegedly being transported illegally when customs authorities intercepted the shipment during a routine inspection.
Dubai Customs stated that the operation forms part of its ongoing efforts to combat the illegal wildlife trade and protect rare and endangered species from trafficking.
Authorities have coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure the rescued animals receive proper care and attention. An investigation into the smuggling attempt is underway.
