New Hajj Protection Scheme Introduced for Pakistani Pilgrims with Enhanced Benefits

Islamabad: The government has introduced a new Hajj Protection Scheme to provide financial and medical support for Pakistani pilgrims traveling to the holy sites this year. Under the scheme, in the event of a pilgrim’s death during Hajj, beneficiaries will receive up to PKR 2 million, while compensation of approximately PKR 1 million will be provided for loss of any body part due to an accident.
A quota of 119,210 has been allocated for the official scheme, while private Hajj tour operators will be closely monitored. Operators found violating rules or receiving complaints may face blacklisting, permanent bans, heavy fines, or reduction in their allocated quota.
Pilgrims will also have access to 24-hour medical and treatment facilities, with one doctor and two paramedical staff assigned for every 1,000 pilgrims. The performance of private tour operators will be continuously monitored, and immediate action will be taken in case of any complaints.
This year, Hajj training has been made mandatory for all eligible pilgrims under both government and private schemes. A total of 179,210 pilgrims from Pakistan are eligible to perform Hajj under these arrangements.
