Finance Minister Aurangzeb Vows Steady Oil Supply, Announces Targeted Relief Plan

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted oil supply and announced plans to introduce targeted relief measures for vulnerable segments of society.
Extending Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the nation, Aurangzeb expressed hope for stability and prosperity in the country. Speaking to the media in Lahore, he said the Prime Minister had already outlined key economic and energy challenges in his recent address.
The finance minister warned that ongoing regional tensions and conflict could impact energy infrastructure, posing risks to supply chains. He revealed that the government has already absorbed a financial burden of Rs69 billion on petroleum products to shield the public from rising costs.
Aurangzeb emphasized the need for sustainable and long-term solutions, noting that Pakistan’s resources are limited. He said the government is considering demand management strategies and energy conservation measures to tackle the crisis effectively.
He added that the fuel supply situation is expected to remain stable until April, while authorities continue to closely monitor the system. The minister also announced that a targeted relief package is being prepared for deserving segments and invited public suggestions for improving the initiative.
According to Aurangzeb, multiple ministries—including petroleum, IT, and finance—are working together on a coordinated strategy. He further stated that the government is assessing the potential impact of the current situation on trade, investment, and the broader economy, while taking steps to ensure economic stability.
