Alleged Embezzlement in Qila Abdullah Water Supply Schemes: Balochistan High Court Orders MPA Zamrak Khan Achakzai Made Party, NAB Inquiry and Rs30 Million Recovery Requested

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court, comprising Chief Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Malakhel and Justice Muhammad Najmuddin Mengal, heard a constitutional petition alleging financial irregularities in the Qila Abdullah water supply schemes. The petition revealed serious misuse of development funds.
Petitioner Inayatullah Khan Achakzai submitted an affidavit claiming that three water supply schemes, each costing PKR 10 million and approved under MPA Zamrak Khan Achakzai’s allocation, had not seen any actual work even after a year. The petition requested that the release of funds for Schemes No. 3835 and 3916 without execution be declared illegal and sought a directive for NAB and the Anti-Corruption Department to initiate an inquiry within seven days.
Additionally, the petitioner demanded a forensic audit and money trail investigation of all three schemes and requested the recovery of allegedly embezzled PKR 30 million from responsible officials and contractors. The plea also called for the suspension of involved officers and freezing of their assets until the inquiry’s completion.
During the hearing, when the court inquired if MPA Zamrak Khan Achakzai had been contacted, the petitioner stated that repeated approaches to authorities and the Anti-Corruption Department had yielded no action. Considering the matter’s seriousness, the court ordered that MPA Zamrak Khan Achakzai and the Chairman of CMIT be made parties to the case and instructed the submission of a revised petition within two days to enable issuance of notices. The next hearing was adjourned until April 2, 2026.
