Supreme Court Allows MQM to File Appeal Against ‘Harsh Remarks’ in High Court Verdict

Karachi: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has granted permission to Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) to file an appeal seeking the removal of what it termed “harsh remarks” from a high court judgment.
A three-member bench at the Karachi registry, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, heard the matter.
During the proceedings, MQM-P’s legal team, including Barrister Farogh Naseem, Hassan Sabir Advocate, and Naeem Siddiqui Advocate, argued that the high court had used strong and damaging language in its verdict against the party. They requested the apex court to allow them to present their stance and seek deletion of those remarks.
The high court judgment had reportedly stated that MQM was involved in acts of terrorism and implicated in the قتل of its own leaders—claims the party has strongly contested.
Accepting the request, the Supreme Court permitted MQM-P to formally file an appeal to challenge and seek removal of the contentious observations from the judgment.
The development opens the door for further legal proceedings, where the party will present its case before the apex court.
