No-Confidence Motion Succeeds Against AJK PM Anwarul Haq; Faisal Mumtaz Rathore Elected New Prime Minister

MUZAFFARABAD – A no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, has been successfully passed, paving the way for Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore to be elected as the new Prime Minister.
During the session of the AJK Legislative Assembly, chaired by Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar, the no-confidence motion was jointly presented by Sardar Javed Ayub, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, and others. The motion also nominated Faisal Mumtaz Rathore as the new Leader of the House.
Rathore secured **36 votes in favor**, while **2 votes were cast against** the motion, leading to his election as the new Prime Minister of AJK.
Before the voting, outgoing Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq addressed the assembly, questioning how a single individual could be blamed for constitutional and administrative shortcomings, insisting that cabinet members were also responsible.
Following the motion’s approval, Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore is expected to take oath as Prime Minister tomorrow. However, sources indicate that due to illness, AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood will not administer the oath. Instead, Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar will swear in the newly elected Prime Minister.
