Prolonged Closure of Pasni Fish Harbor Exposes Government Negligence, Thousands of Makran Fishermen Economically Paralyzed: Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch

Quetta: National Party leader and Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, expressed strong concern over the long-term inactivity of the Pasni Fish Harbor, calling it a clear example of government incompetence, criminal negligence, and the continuous neglect of Balochistan’s coastal areas.

He stated that the Pasni Fish Harbor was constructed to provide modern facilities to thousands of fishermen in Makran, organize the fishing sector, and strengthen the coastal economy. However, contrary to government development claims, the harbor has remained non-functional for years.

Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch emphasized that fishermen in Pasni, Gwadar, and other Makran coastal areas are already facing severe economic pressure and inflation, and the harbor’s closure has further exacerbated the hardships for their families.

He demanded that the coastal resources, which hold immense economic potential, be utilized through effective planning. He called on the government to urgently resolve the harbor’s technical and administrative issues and activate it immediately, alongside formulating a comprehensive policy for fishermen.

He warned that if the government fails to act, it will bear full responsibility for the resulting unrest among coastal communities, and the National Party will continue to raise its voice against this exploitation at all levels.
