President Asif Ali Zardari Calls for Global Action Against Islamophobia

Islamabad:** President **Asif Ali Zardari** emphasized the need to end hatred and prejudice against Muslims worldwide, in a message on **International Day to Combat Islamophobia**.

President Zardari stated that Islam is a religion of peace, compassion, and justice, and linking it to extremism reflects ignorance. He urged the international community to strengthen legal protections against hate crimes and stressed that freedom of expression should not be used to spread hatred. He also highlighted the importance of respecting religious diversity and promoting interfaith harmony.

Referring to the **Christchurch tragedy**, he described it as a wake-up call for humanity. He said Pakistan has consistently raised its voice against Islamophobia in international forums and noted that overseas Pakistanis play an important role in societal development, while prejudice against Muslims threatens their safety abroad.

Domestically, President Zardari stated that minorities in Pakistan are being provided equal rights and opportunities, and an independent national commission is being established to safeguard minority rights.

He concluded by calling on the global community to work together to eliminate prejudice, promote dialogue, and ensure respect for religious beliefs with equal legal protection for all.
