KP Chief Minister Criticizes Government, Demands Medical Treatment for Imran Khan

Peshawar: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, has strongly criticized the current government, accusing it of pushing Pakistan toward decline through what he described as flawed policies. He claimed that the authorities’ primary focus is preventing meetings with former prime minister Imran Khan and denying him proper medical treatment.

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Afridi said their main agenda is ensuring the health and medical care of Imran Khan. He stated that legal, political, and democratic efforts have been made to arrange medical treatment for Khan at Shifa International Hospital in the presence of his family and personal doctors, but the demand has not been accepted.

Afridi said that despite approaching courts and pursuing constitutional options, authorities have not allowed the former prime minister to receive treatment at the hospital. He described Khan as a major political leader and chairman of Pakistan’s largest political party, expressing regret that, according to him, the country is failing to value his leadership.

The chief minister also alleged that the current ruling group has “hacked” national institutions, claiming that the judiciary and parliament are not functioning independently and that constitutional principles are being ignored.

Afridi further criticized the government’s policies, saying it lacks clear domestic and foreign strategies and is unable to effectively respond to regional tensions. He reiterated his demand that Imran Khan be allowed proper medical treatment and access to family and doctors.
