Spain Recalls Ambassador from Israel in Protest Over Attacks on Iran and Gaza Conflict

Spain has announced the recall of its ambassador from Israel in protest against military actions by United States and Israel against Iran, as well as Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza Strip.
According to international media reports, the Spanish government made the decision following a recommendation by the foreign minister and a joint approval during a cabinet meeting. As a result, Spain has ended the posting of its ambassador Ana María Salomón Pérez in Israel.
Following the decision, the Spanish embassy in Israel will temporarily be headed by a chargé d’affaires until further arrangements are made.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez recently described the military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran as unjustified, stating that Spain does not support the conflict.
Spain has been among the few European countries consistently criticizing Israeli military operations in Gaza. In October last year, the Spanish Parliament approved a permanent ban on the sale of weapons, military equipment, and dual-use technology to Israel, citing concerns that such equipment could be used in Gaza.
