Balochistan High Court Orders Site Visit in Road Projects Case After Rs2.5 Billion Cost Increase Revealed

Quetta: The Balochistan High Court has ordered a site inspection and submission of a report in a case concerning multiple road development projects after a significant increase in project costs and conflicting statements about construction progress.

During the hearing of a constitutional petition, a two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Mulakhail and Justice Muhammad Najmuddin Mengal was informed that changes in the Zhob–Mir Ali Khel Road Project had increased its cost by approximately Rs2.5 billion.

The court remarked that further delays in development projects would not be tolerated. However, due to technical and financial issues, the bench refrained from issuing a final order at this stage.

The hearing also highlighted conflicting claims regarding progress on the Spira Ragha Road Project. An SDO informed the court that around 95% of the earthwork had been completed. However, lawyer Hamidullah Nasir argued that no significant progress was visible at the project site.

In response to the conflicting statements, the court directed a joint delegation comprising officials and lawyers to visit the site. The delegation has been instructed to complete the visit by March 26 and submit a detailed report to the court by March 28.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case until March 30, 2026, and directed that copies of the order be sent to the relevant authorities.
