Pakistan to Launch 5G Services in Five Major Cities This Year: Shaza Fatima

Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, has announced that Pakistan will ensure the launch of 5G services in five major cities during the current year.

Speaking to Dunya News, the minister said that in the first phase, 5G services will be available in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta.

She emphasized that improving 4G services remains the government’s top priority. According to her, about 95 percent of mobile phones used in Pakistan are locally manufactured, and efforts are being made to encourage more people to use 5G-compatible smartphones.

The minister also revealed that a 600 MHz spectrum auction will take place soon, with six new bands being introduced to support the rollout of advanced mobile networks.

Shaza Fatima added that the nationwide availability of 5G services will depend on the completion of telecommunications infrastructure, and the service is expected to become fully operational for users within four to six months. 📶📱
