Government Eases Rules for Overseas Pakistanis to Import Cars as Gifts

Islamabad: Overseas Pakistanis will now find it easier to bring vehicles into the country after the government relaxed regulations related to car imports under the gift scheme.
Millions of Pakistanis live and work abroad, and many of them wish to send vehicles to their families in Pakistan through the gift scheme. However, strict regulations had previously made the process complicated.
Under the revised policy introduced by the Government of Pakistan, the requirement that a vehicle must already be registered in the sender’s name before being gifted to someone in Pakistan has been removed.
With this legal change, cars can now be imported as gifts from any country without the prior registration condition. The move is expected to simplify the import process and make it significantly easier for overseas Pakistanis to send vehicles to their relatives in Pakistan.
