Germany Recognizes Pakistan’s Role in U.S.-Iran Ceasefire; Chancellor Congratulates PM Shehbaz

Islamabad: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to commend Pakistan’s extraordinary diplomatic efforts in facilitating the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and in hosting the official negotiations in Islamabad this week.

Chancellor Merz described Pakistan’s mediation as sincere and genuine, praising its pivotal role in bringing the two nations to the table. In response, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude and emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire to achieve successful negotiation outcomes.

During the conversation, both leaders also expressed deep concern over the ongoing tensions in Lebanon and reiterated hope that these diplomatic efforts would not only resolve bilateral conflicts but also bring sustainable peace and stability to the broader region.
