Dubai Police Announce Strict Penalties for Online Begging and Fake Charity Appeals

Dubai: Dubai Police have issued a warning about a rise in online begging and fake charity appeals during Ramadan, announcing strict punishments and fines for offenders.
Authorities said professional beggars and fraudsters are exploiting people’s emotions and generosity through social media and various websites. Citizens have been advised to donate Zakat and other charitable contributions only through officially approved welfare organizations and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
According to Dubai Police, individuals caught begging online could face up to three months in prison and fines of AED 10,000. Officials emphasized that strict action will be taken against illegal fundraising campaigns and fake appeals.
The police urged the public not to respond to charitable appeals circulating on social media platforms or unverified websites and to ensure donations are made only through credible channels.
