Over 26.8 Million Passengers Travel Through Pakistan’s Seven Major Airports in One Year

Lahore: Despite long queues, heavy luggage, and hours of waiting, a total of 26,815,000 domestic and international passengers traveled through seven major airports across Pakistan—including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, and Faisalabad—over the past year.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, Jinnah International Airport handled the highest traffic with 8.5 million passengers, split almost equally between 4.37 million international and 4.13 million domestic travelers. Islamabad International Airport saw 7.87 million passengers, including 5.41 million international and 2.46 million domestic travelers.
Allama Iqbal International Airport recorded 6.86 million passengers—5.14 million international and 1.73 million domestic. Multan Airport accommodated 1.38 million passengers, while Peshawar Airport saw 1.29 million and Quetta Airport 375,000 passengers. Faisalabad Airport recorded 470,000 passengers.
Passengers reported long delays, flight cancellations, and a lack of modern facilities at airports, highlighting ongoing challenges despite the large volume of travelers. The Pakistan Airports Authority acknowledged the high passenger traffic but has yet to fully address complaints regarding infrastructure and service quality.
This data underscores both the growing demand for air travel in Pakistan and the urgent need to improve airport services to meet international standards.
