Kamran Akmal Expresses Frustration Over Brother Umar Akmal’s Exclusion from PSL 2026 Player Auction

Lahore: Former national cricketer Kamran Akmal has voiced his disappointment with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after his brother Umar Akmal was reportedly not included in the player auction for Pakistan Super League 2026.
PSL 2026, scheduled from March to May, is being held under a new and expanded format. For the first time, the league has replaced the traditional draft system with a player auction model. While the auction aims to enhance competitiveness, it has faced criticism from fans and former players alike.
Speaking on a program, Kamran Akmal said, “This isn’t just about selection. The main issue is that Umar Akmal’s name wasn’t even considered for the auction list. That’s unfair to a player—he wasn’t given the opportunity in the first place.”
Former cricketer Basit Ali also supported Umar Akmal, describing him as a talented middle-order batsman who deserved a chance. He called for transparency in the selection process and the inclusion of deserving players in the auction.
Kamran Akmal took to social media to express his frustration, writing that the system was unjust and questioning why Umar Akmal was excluded while some less experienced or inactive players were included.
As of now, the PCB has not issued an official statement regarding the matter, leaving fans and former players awaiting clarification.
