Basant Festival Celebrated in Quetta After Lahore, Authorities Urge Safety

Quetta: After festivities in Lahore, the traditional Basant festival has now begun in Quetta, with residents celebrating the event in high spirits as colorful kites filled the city’s skyline.
According to the local administration, the three-day celebrations include kite flying competitions, music, and various cultural activities. Large numbers of citizens are participating in the festivities, while special programs are being organized in different parts of the provincial capital.
Markets across the city have witnessed a noticeable surge in the sale of kites, strings, and other Basant-related items. Shopkeepers reported a significant increase in sales over the past few days, leading to improved business activity.
Meanwhile, the district administration and police have issued safety guidelines for the public. Authorities have strongly urged citizens to strictly avoid aerial firing during the celebrations, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators to ensure the festival remains safe and peaceful.
