Supreme Court Orders Access to Eye Specialists and Telephonic Contact with Children for PTI Founder Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed that former Prime Minister and PTI founder **Imran Khan** be granted access to specialist eye doctors and telephonic contact with his children.
A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice **Yahya Afridi** and Justice **Shahid Bilal Hasan** heard the case, during which a report was presented stating that Imran Khan had deemed the medical facilities provided to him unsatisfactory and requested consultation with expert ophthalmologists.
During the hearing, Attorney General **Anwar Mansoor** informed the court that the government is prepared to provide access to the eye specialists. Chief Justice Afridi emphasized that the government should also ensure telephonic contact between Imran Khan and his children, who are currently in state custody. He stressed that **all prisoners should receive equal medical facilities**, and no preferential treatment should be given to any individual, including Imran Khan.
The court further directed that a team of doctors be appointed to examine Imran Khan’s eyes and that both measures—medical consultation and telephonic access—be implemented **before February 16**. Chief Justice Afridi highlighted that health is a matter of paramount importance and requires state intervention.
The Attorney General reiterated that providing health facilities is the responsibility of the state and that appropriate measures would be taken if any prisoner is dissatisfied.
Subsequently, the Supreme Court granted Imran Khan the facility to make **telephonic calls to his children, Qasim and Suleman**, while reserving the order on the original case for further hearing.
