Security Sources Condemn Opposition Leader’s Statement on Pakistan Army, Emphasize Military’s Non-Political Role

Lahore (Qudrat Daily) – Security sources have described the recent remarks by the opposition leader regarding the Pakistan Army as “extremely regrettable and baseless,” stressing that the military has no involvement in politics.

According to security officials, the fight against terrorism is not limited to the armed forces, police, or the Frontier Corps, but is a collective national responsibility. They emphasized that success against terrorism is conditional upon the full implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).

The sources noted that the Islamabad attack involved a terrorist trained in Afghanistan, underlining the need for national unity against terrorism regardless of political or religious beliefs. They also highlighted that smuggling of Iranian petrol and diesel, which occurred 15–20 million liters annually three years ago, has been largely stopped, depriving terrorists of crucial funding. Good governance is cited as a key factor in eradicating terrorism.

Security officials further mentioned that the recent meetings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to curb terrorism are encouraging and reinforced that dialogue is a right of all political parties. Decisions related to legal and court matters must be made according to the constitution and law.

A senior security officer in Lahore told media that the nation must remain united and avoid divisions based on ethnicity, language, or provincialism. He added that external and internal conspiracies, particularly India’s alleged involvement behind sponsored terrorism, require strict action.

The officer emphasized that no narrative can weaken the bond between the military and the people, noting that youth support for the armed forces is evident during educational institution visits. “Just as we defeated India in the historic battles, we will defeat terrorists as well,” the officer concluded.
