India Will Travel to Sri Lanka for T20 World Cup Regardless of Pakistan Match, Says Captain Suryakumar Yadav

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – Indian cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav has confirmed that the team will travel to Colombo for the T20 World Cup regardless of whether their scheduled match against Pakistan takes place. This comes after Pakistan announced a boycott of their February 15 clash.
Speaking to the media in Mumbai, Yadav stated, “Our team will go to Colombo, whether the match happens or not. Our intentions are clear—we did not refuse to play; the decision came from Pakistan’s side. The ICC has set the schedule, and BCCI along with the government coordinated with the ICC to play at a neutral venue.”
He added, “Our tickets are booked, and we are going. We will see what happens later.”
The T20 World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, begins on February 7, with the high-profile India-Pakistan match scheduled for February 15 in Colombo. Pakistan has officially announced it will boycott the match, while the ICC has requested Pakistan to reconsider its decision.
Experts warn that cancellation of this traditional rivalry could cause significant financial losses for the ICC and the hosts. Meanwhile, India will be required to attend the ground as scheduled to complete match formalities, including post-match press conferences, and will still earn two points in the group stage.
Pakistan is set to play its first T20 World Cup match on February 7, facing teams including Namibia, the Netherlands, and the United States in their group alongside India.
