Indian Media Speculates on Possible Sanctions After Pakistan Declines to Play India in T20 World Cup

Indian media has launched speculation over possible sanctions against Pakistan following its decision not to play the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match against India.
According to Indian media reports, an ICC virtual board meeting is expected to be held today after Pakistan announced it would not face India in the T20 World Cup. The reports claim that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet formally communicated its decision to the ICC, and the meeting will discuss whether Pakistan will be allowed to continue participating in the tournament.
Indian media has alleged that Pakistan could face penalties for refusing to play against India, including possible sanctions and setbacks in future tournaments. Some reports claim that Pakistan may even face restrictions in upcoming ICC events.
The reports further suggest that the PCB could be fined heavily and that top ICC member nations might refuse to play bilateral series against Pakistan. It has also been claimed that foreign players currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) could face restrictions, while the PCB may be asked to compensate broadcasters for potential losses.
It is worth recalling that a day earlier, the Government of Pakistan allowed the national team to participate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but decided that Pakistan would not play the match against India scheduled for 15 February.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be held from 6 February to 8 March, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
