Biometric Verification Made Mandatory for Matric and Intermediate Exams in Punjab from 2026

Punjab has made biometric verification mandatory for candidates appearing in Matric and Intermediate examinations, starting from 2026, in a major move to curb cheating, impersonation, and other irregularities.
The decision to introduce digital biometric verification for students was taken during a high-level meeting held at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore. Senior officials from all nine educational boards across Punjab attended the meeting.
Under the new system, students’ identities will be verified through digital biometrics before they are allowed to enter examination halls. Authorities also approved reforms in the practical examination system, including the introduction of a standardized grading system.
Additional measures include CCTV monitoring in laboratories and a digital marking system to ensure transparency and fairness in practical exams.
