Azam Swati Stopped at Peshawar Airport Despite Court Assurances; Contempt Petition to Be Filed

PESHAWAR: PTI leader Senator Azam Swati was barred from leaving the country at Peshawar Airport, despite court assurances that his name was not on any travel restriction lists.
According to *Express News*, Swati’s legal team has stated that his name was added to the PNIL (Provisional National Identification List), leading to the FIA preventing his departure. The lawyers will file a contempt of court petition in the Peshawar High Court today.
This development comes just a day after the Peshawar High Court approved Swati’s plea to have his name removed from both the Exit Control List (ECL) and the Passport Control List (PCL), effectively closing the case.
During the court hearing, the Assistant Attorney General had assured the court that Swati’s name was no longer on any stop list, and the FIA representative confirmed that he was free to travel abroad.
Despite these official assurances, Swati was stopped at the airport, prompting his legal team to seek contempt of court proceedings.
