Pakistan on High Alert After Nipah Virus Cases Reported in India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been put on high alert following the spread of the Nipah virus in neighboring India, with authorities ordering strict screening measures at all entry points across the country.
According to officials, enhanced screening has been made mandatory at all airports, seaports, and land border crossings. Every incoming and transit passenger will undergo 100 percent screening to prevent the possible entry of the virus into Pakistan.
Authorities have also directed officials to verify the complete travel history of passengers for the past 21 days. Special monitoring instructions have been issued for travelers arriving from Nipah-affected or high-risk areas.
Thermal screening and medical examinations have been declared mandatory for all passengers. Officials emphasized that no individual will be allowed to enter Pakistan without completing all required health clearance procedures.
It is pertinent to note that at least five Nipah virus cases have been reported in the Indian state of West Bengal, prompting Pakistani health authorities to take precautionary measures to safeguard public health.
