Veteran Actress Nosheba Bibi Reveals She Was Married at 12, Became a Mother at 14

Lahore: Senior Pakistani actress Nosheba Bibi has revealed that she was married at the age of 12 and became a mother at 14, sharing candid details about her early life and marriage in a recent interview.
Nosheba Bibi, whose real name is Jahan Sultana, is a well-known Pakistan Television (PTV) actress, particularly famous for portraying Pashtun characters in classic dramas. She has also worked extensively with Pashto radio, and her association with PTV and radio spans several decades.
Hailing from Swat, the actress is widely admired for her grace, modesty, and eloquence, and she enjoys a strong fan following in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She has consistently appeared on television with her head covered, earning respect for her dignified on-screen presence.
In a recent exclusive interview with a digital media channel, Nosheba Bibi spoke openly about her child marriage and its impact on her life. She said she had no time to think about a career or employment because she was married at a very young age, even as she had begun working on television around the same time.
“I was still playing with dolls when I was married,” she recalled. “One day I was told there was a wedding at home. I was given a lipstick, which I loved, and I forgot everything else.”
She said she happily joined her friends at the wedding ceremony, adding that at such a young age, children do not even understand what marriage truly means. Nosheba Bibi revealed that after the guests left, she asked her sister-in-law to send her back home.
The actress disclosed that her husband was 23 years older than her and was her maternal cousin, adding that the marriage was arranged at the insistence of her aunt. She further revealed that she became a mother at 14 years of age and now has three sons and one daughter.
While describing her family life, she said her father was very strict, but her husband fully supported her acting career, which allowed her to continue working in television and radio despite the challenges of early marriage and motherhood.
