“Khan 1” Number Plate Sold for Over Rs111 Million in KP Personalized Plate Auction

Karachi/Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government organized a high-profile auction of personalized vehicle number plates at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar, where several plates fetched multi-million rupee bids, including some reflecting the names of prominent figures.
According to officials, the auction, held under the supervision of Syed Fakhar Jahan, Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, attracted extraordinary public interest.
The highest bid went to the plate “Wazir 1”, sold for Rs15 million.
The second-highest, “Afridi 1”, was purchased by Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi for Rs14.5 million.
The plate “Khan 1”, resembling the name of PTI founder Imran Khan, was sold for Rs11.1 million to PTI MPA Naik Muhammad Khan from Waziristan.
Other notable sales included:
Peshawar 1 – Rs10 million
Haripur 1 – Rs8 million
Yousafzai 1 – Rs4.9 million
Durrani 1 – Rs1.66 million
Malakand 1 – Rs1.25 million
Swabi 1 – Rs1.2 million
The number plate “804” was removed from the auction, and plates referencing former political leaders like Zardari, Sharif, as well as national cricketers, were not auctioned on this day.
The auction was conducted through single bidding, with plans for further sales via e-bidding. Officials said the initiative has proven successful, generating significant revenue for the provincial treasury while giving citizens a chance to acquire unique personalized plates.
Syed Fakhar Jahan stated, “This project is a unique, citizen-friendly initiative. Due to overwhelming public interest, future e-biddings for choice plates will be organized. Citizens can submit requests via the Dastak app or directly to the Director General of Excise for their desired names and marks.”
The event was attended by Director General Excise and Taxation Abdul Haleem Khan and other senior officials from the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department.
