Livestock Market for Eid Sacrifice Animals to Open at Northern Bypass on April 19

KARACHI:A **Livestock Market** for the upcoming Eid al-Adha will officially open at **Northern Bypass** on **Saturday, April 19**, with **Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab** inaugurating the event. This market marks the **Silver Jubilee** of the cattle market, which has been relocated from **Super Highway** to Northern Bypass for the third time.

According to **2025 Administrator Shahab Ali Ikram**, this will be the **first time** that the livestock market has been organized at Northern Bypass, and the market’s setup will follow a **family festival concept**. The market will offer a **high-quality food court** for buyers and visitors, providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

The **livestock market** will have the capacity to house **200,000 large animals** and **100,000 small animals**. Spread across **1,200 acres**, the market will be divided into **20 blocks**, including **VIP and General blocks**.

– **VIP block** fees range from **Rs. 200,000 to Rs. 250,000**, offering premium services.
– The **General block**, on the other hand, will offer **free services** for buyers.

For the safety of visitors, there will be **over 20 security posts**, and **continuous police patrols** will monitor the area from the market to **Mi’maar**. To further ensure the convenience of traders, they will be allowed to bring in their own food, water, fodder, and tents, though selling these items within the market will not be permitted.

In a bid to ease the burden on visitors, **parking fees** have been reduced by **50%**. Shahab Ali Ikram also mentioned that traders will be allowed to set up their own stalls according to **high-quality standards**, tailored to their preferences.

When asked about the General block, Ikram clarified that **no rent** will be charged to traders for the **designated spaces**, ensuring that **small traders** and **low-cost buyers** can benefit from the arrangements.

Additionally, in response to concerns about livestock diseases, a dedicated team of **veterinary doctors** will conduct **health checks** on the animals upon entry. Traders will also be provided with medicines at **half the market price** to ensure the health of their livestock.

The market aims to ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for all attendees while making necessary arrangements to accommodate the growing number of livestock traders and buyers this Eid.
