KP Chief Minister Working Jointly With Corps Commander, Say Military Sources

**Islamabad:** Military sources have stated that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Corps Commander are working together in close coordination to address security and governance challenges.
Speaking to senior journalists in Islamabad, the military sources said that terrorism can only be eliminated from the country when there is genuine intent. They added that the first point of the National Action Plan involves military operations, which are currently underway.
According to the sources, Balochistan remains at the top of the priority list, while governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not functioning effectively. They pointed out that there are around 3,300 employees in the province who are failing to meet required standards.
The military sources further said that the Taliban have been clearly informed that no amnesty will be granted and that corrective action is necessary. They also revealed that there are currently 2,968 pending cases in KP’s anti-terrorism courts. Over the last three years, a total of 677 cases nationwide and 621 cases in KP alone have been put on hold.
Praising the bravery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, the sources noted that the force can perform effectively only if it is given a free hand. Responding to a question, they remarked that if operations are not carried out in KP, should the province be handed over to Noor Wali Mehsud?
Concluding their remarks, the military sources reiterated that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Corps Commander are jointly working to improve the security situation in the province.
