Bangladesh Stands Firm on Not Sending Cricket Team to India for T20 World Cup

**Islamabad:** Bangladesh has taken a firm stance on not sending its cricket team to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup due to ongoing security concerns. Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul stated that there is no possibility of reconsidering this decision, and the team will not travel to India for the matches.
Speaking to the media after meeting national cricketers at a hotel in Dhaka, Nazrul said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) did not respond fairly to Bangladesh’s request to change the match venues. He emphasized that security concerns remain unresolved, and the team cannot risk participating without assurances.
Bangladesh had formally requested the ICC to move its matches due to safety issues. However, the ICC decided to proceed with the tournament as scheduled despite the potential boycott, creating uncertainty about the team’s participation.
Officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board are reviewing possible contingency options, but the government has shown no sign of softening its stance. The dispute now casts doubt over Bangladesh’s participation in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and may affect tournament scheduling, broadcasting, and regional cricket diplomacy.
