*PkNAP Rejects Proposal to Create “Unnatural” New District by Separating Panjpai from Quetta and Ghazaband from Pishin*

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): The Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) has strongly rejected the proposal to separate Panjpai from Quetta and Ghazaband from Pishin to form a new district by merging them with Kankar and Gurgab, terming the move unacceptable and against historical, social, and administrative realities.
In a joint statement, PkNAP Provincial Secretary Faqir Khushhal Kasi, Provincial Deputy Secretaries Suleman Khan Bazi and Mahmood Riaz Panezai, Central Committee member Muhammad Sadiq Mashwani, Panjpai Area Secretary, and Ghazaband (Ajram area) Secretary Malik Umar Kakar said that Panjpai is an inseparable, historic part of Quetta, while Ghazaband—comprising Union Councils Ajram-1 and Ajram-2—is an integral part of Pishin district.
The leaders stated that the relationship of Panjpai with Quetta and Ghazaband with Pishin is not merely administrative but is rooted in history, culture, society, and geography, and cannot be severed under any circumstances. They said forcibly including these areas in a proposed district without public consultation and without meeting administrative standards is a deliberate attempt to further fragment Pashtun regions.
The statement accused the government of using the sensitive issue of creating new districts for political engineering rather than public convenience. The party questioned why basic facilities, law and order, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities are not being ensured in existing districts if administrative improvement is truly the objective.
PkNAP warned that creating new districts without a comprehensive policy, public consent, and consideration of ground realities would lead to further administrative chaos and political instability in the province. The party added that separating Panjpai from Quetta and Ghazaband from Pishin is against the will of the local population and a clear violation of constitutional principles, democratic values, and local autonomy.
Reiterating its stance, the Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party declared that no compromise would be made on the geographical unity and historical identity of Pashtun areas. The party announced that any attempt to include Panjpai and Ghazaband in a proposed new district would be resisted at political, public, and democratic levels, warning of a strong public reaction if the government continues with what it termed an anti-people and divisive policy.
