We Will Push Terrorism Beyond Our Borders and Drown It in the Arabian Sea, Says PM Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eradicate terrorism, eliminate poverty and unemployment, and free Pakistan from the burden of debt, stressing that national unity and solidarity are more crucial today than ever before.

Addressing members of the National Peace Message Committee, the prime minister said that terrorism has once again raised its head in the country, warning of a nexus between the Khawarij, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and TTA, which he said are being funded and facilitated by Pakistan’s enemies. “We will uproot terrorism from Pakistan’s soil and push it beyond our borders, drowning it in the Arabian Sea,” he declared.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that followers of all religions have full freedom to worship and celebrate their festivals according to their beliefs. He said Pakistan has been blessed with immense natural and human resources, and if these are utilized properly, the country’s problems can be resolved, paving the way for a true welfare state.

Recalling the Marka-e-Haq, the prime minister said the armed forces of Pakistan, under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, taught India a lesson that the world will remember for generations. He said the victory in May 2025 was a result of Allah’s help and the prayers of the nation’s 240 million people.

He noted that terrorism remains Pakistan’s biggest challenge, pointing out that nearly 100,000 Pakistanis have sacrificed their lives in the fight against militancy. “Just as we defeated terrorism in 2018, we will crush it again,” he asserted.

Speaking on the occasion, committee convener Maulana Tahir Ashrafi announced that a two-day conference of scholars from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be convened, adding that religious scholars would play a frontline role in countering extremist narratives. Other participants, including Mufti Abdul Rahim, Allama Arif Wahidi, Allama Muhammad Hussain Akbar, Rajesh Kumar and Bishop Azad Marshall, also addressed the meeting and assured full cooperation with the government and military leadership for national security and the elimination of terrorism.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Religious Education informed the meeting that along with religious and contemporary education, technical training is being provided in 36,000 madrasas across the country.
