Balochistan Government Declares Civil Defence a “Dying Cadre,” Bomb Disposal Staff Transferred to Special Branch

Quetta: The Balochistan Home Department, with the approval of the Chief Minister, has issued a notification declaring Civil Defence Balochistan a “Dying Cadre” with immediate effect.
According to the notification issued on January 14, 2026, all vacant posts of Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) in Civil Defence have been abolished with immediate effect. The notification further directs that all personnel of the Bomb Disposal Squad report to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Special Branch.
It also stated that the non-salary budget of Rs 35.232 million allocated for Civil Defence will be withdrawn. All assets, records, and personal files of employees of the Bomb Disposal Wing will be handed over to the Home Department.
The notification, issued by Additional Chief Secretary Home Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, further instructs the Special Branch to submit a separate proposal regarding the newly adjusted unit.
