Adiala Jail Is Not Like Zaman Park or Pakpattan Shrine, Says Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has responded to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that Adiala Jail is not like Zaman Park or the Pakpattan shrine where gatherings can be held without restrictions.
Reacting to PTI’s criticism, Azma Bukhari said that the police always exercise patience and restraint, but certain elements deliberately use women as human shields during confrontations. She made it clear that weekly spectacles involving unrelated individuals outside Adiala Jail would not be allowed.
The information minister added that no office-bearer of her party visits Adiala Jail, and police action is only taken when there is a violation of the law. She questioned whether the police could remain silent in the face of misbehavior or physical altercations, and asked why blame is placed on Maryam Nawaz if people fail to come out in support of PTI’s leadership.
Azma Bukhari stressed that the misuse of the Constitution and human rights as a pretext for breaking the law must come to an end. She warned that those who take the law into their own hands will be held accountable under all circumstances.
It is worth noting that a day earlier, PTI strongly condemned alleged police violence against its workers outside Adiala Jail. Despite restrictions on meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan, party workers continue to gather outside the jail every Tuesday and Thursday to express solidarity with their detained leader.
