Vegetable-Rich Diet May Help Prevent Prostate Cancer Progression: Study

**Quetta:** A diet rich in vegetables and probiotics may help protect against slow-growing prostate cancer, according to a new research study.
The researchers aimed to explore the connection between gut health and prostate cancer, focusing on whether increased intake of **phytochemical-rich foods**—such as leafy green vegetables and berries—and **Lactobacillus probiotics**, known as beneficial gut bacteria, could influence the progression of the disease.
The study found that more than **90 percent of men** who consumed supplements made from **broccoli, turmeric, pomegranate, green tea, ginger, cranberry**, along with a specially formulated probiotic, experienced either a **reduction in disease progression or a complete halt in its growth**.
Lead author of the study, **Professor Robert Thomas**, said the findings provide the first clear evidence that balancing gut bacteria can slow the progression of prostate cancer.
Researchers believe the results highlight the potential role of dietary changes and gut health in managing prostate cancer and improving patient outcomes.
