90,000 Intelligence-Based Operations in Balochistan, 700 Terrorists Killed; University Lecturer Exposed as Militant

**Quetta:** Senior security officials have revealed shocking details about counterterrorism operations in Balochistan, stating that law enforcement agencies carried out **90,000 intelligence-based operations** across the province over the past year, killing more than **700 terrorists**.

The revelations were made during a joint press conference at the **Civil Secretariat Quetta** by **Additional Chief Secretary Interior Balochistan Hamza Shafqat** and **DIG Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Aitzaz Goraya**, who briefed the media on the province’s security situation and ongoing anti-terrorism measures.

Hamza Shafqat said that during these operations, around **400 security personnel and civilians were martyred**. However, he added that a **marked decline in terrorist incidents** has been recorded during the **last three months of 2025**, indicating improved security effectiveness.

He further announced that a new institution, **National Financial Tasking and Terrorism Control (NAFTIC)**, has been established to strengthen counterterrorism efforts. The body will be made operational in **all districts of Balochistan by March**. He also stated that the entire province has been declared an **A-Area** to further enhance security arrangements.

During the press conference, officials disclosed the arrest of a **highly dangerous terrorist, Sajid Ahmed alias Shawiz**, from whose vehicle **modern weapons, ammunition, and a suicide jacket** were recovered. According to Hamza Shafqat, Sajid was educated at **Islamic University Islamabad** and had served as a **lecturer at Turbat University**. He belonged to Turbat and was affiliated with a **proscribed organization**.

DIG CTD Aitzaz Goraya said that Sajid was involved in **reconnaissance and facilitation activities** for the banned outfit in Turbat and was in contact with a militant commander named **Dostain** based in Afghanistan. He added that the recovered weapons were being transported from **Panjgur to Turbat**. Sajid was also associated with the **Baloch Yakjehti Committee** and was involved in recruiting youth for militant organizations.

The DIG CTD further revealed that **weapons are being smuggled into Pakistan from Iran**, and platforms such as **BSO and BYC** are being used to radicalize educated youth toward armed groups. He informed that **three teenagers**, including **18-year-old Sarfraz from Kharan**, **Jehanzeb alias Mehrban**, and another youth named **Bahzal**, have been arrested for involvement in recruitment, facilitation, and ideological indoctrination.

According to investigators, **minors are being used to supply money and medicines to terrorists**, including **surgical medicines taken from government hospitals**. DIG Goraya said steps will be taken to **rehabilitate these youths** so they can be reintegrated into society as productive citizens.

The officials reaffirmed that security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism and restoring lasting peace in Balochistan.
