Pakistan Medical Association Quetta Condemns Raids on Grand Alliance Leaders, Demands Immediate Release of Arrested Employees

*Quetta:* The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Quetta Zone has strongly condemned the recent raids on the homes of Grand Alliance leaders and the arrests of protesting employees, describing the actions as a violation of personal rights and the sanctity of homes.
In a statement, the PMA spokesperson highlighted the stark disparity between legislators’ privileges and the struggles of lower-tier employees. While Members of the Provincial and National Assemblies (MPAs/MNAs) have increased their allowances by 200 times, lower-level employees are surviving on salaries of just PKR 20,000. The spokesperson criticized the provincial government for ignoring the recommendations of its own committee regarding employee allowances, saying such neglect during rising inflation is pushing employees toward financial hardship, with many leaving government jobs.
The PMA emphasized that delaying the implementation of the Grand Alliance’s joint recommendations and adopting anti-employee policies amounts to depriving workers of their constitutional rights. The association also denounced the targeting of Grand Alliance organizer Professor Abdul Quddus Kakr’s home, calling the raids and house sieges “unjust and abhorrent.”
The spokesperson demanded the immediate release of all detained employees and urged the government to fulfill the legitimate demands of workers without further delay. The PMA stressed that using violence, arrests, or illegal tactics to suppress the Grand Alliance’s peaceful protests is unacceptable.
