KP Chief Minister Upset Over VC’s English Speech, Orders Future Addresses in Urdu; Stresses Intelligence-Based Security Operations

*Peshawar:* Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi expressed displeasure after the Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women’s University delivered her convocation speech in English and directed that all future speeches should be delivered in Urdu.

Addressing the convocation, Chief Minister Afridi said, “The Vice Chancellor delivered her speech in English, which I did not appreciate. Our national language is Urdu, and if the next speech is in English, I will be upset.” He further instructed all universities in the province to conduct speeches in Urdu.

On matters of security, Afridi highlighted that over 14,000 intelligence-based operations have been conducted in the province, emphasizing that these operations alone have not eradicated terrorism. He stressed the importance of keeping the nation informed about security measures, saying, “Before these operations began, no one in our communities sought help. We have repeatedly sacrificed for Pakistan and will continue to do so.”
