Balochistan Food Authority Seizes Chinese Salt, Destroys Harmful Oil, Fines 25 Outlets in Quetta Crackdown

*Quetta:* In a robust drive to ensure safe and high-quality food for the public, the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) launched a special inspection campaign across various areas of Quetta, including Samungli, Western Bypass, Airport Road, Saryab Road, Alamdar Road, Toghi Road, Mekangi Road, Khudaidad Road, and Spini Road.

According to the BFA spokesperson, a total of 48 food outlets were inspected, with 25 establishments penalized for violations of food safety regulations. Fines were imposed on 16 hotels, 4 fast-food corners, and 5 pizza points.

The inspections revealed serious violations, including poor hygiene, use of substandard Chinese salt, harmful cooking ingredients, and unsanitary personal conditions of food handlers. Large quantities of Chinese salt were confiscated, and substandard or harmful cooking oil was destroyed. Nine outlets with minor issues were issued corrective notices.

Director General of BFA, Waqar Khurshid Alam, emphasized that public health is the top priority, and the preparation or sale of substandard food will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He urged food business operators to strictly adhere to cleanliness, the use of quality ingredients, and food safety regulations, warning that non-compliance will result in fines and strict legal action.

Alam added that the inspection campaign will be expanded to cover all areas of the city to ensure safe, hygienic, and quality food for the residents of Quetta.
