JUI Criticizes Imposition of Section 144 in Quetta, Urges Police to Focus on Performance Instead of Harassment

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta):** The **Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Quetta District spokesperson** strongly opposed the recent notification by the Balochistan government enforcing **Section 144**, stating that such measures are **not an effective solution to crime or illegal activities**.
The spokesperson highlighted that **Section 144 has been imposed multiple times in the past**, yet it **failed to reduce crime or improve law and order**. Instead, ordinary citizens, laborers, and motorcyclists often bear the brunt of its negative effects. He criticized police for **harassing the public at checkpoints and extorting bribes**, which further increases the hardships of common people.
According to JUI, **criminal elements and those possessing illegal weapons remain unaffected** by such restrictions, while **innocent citizens face unnecessary limitations**.
The spokesperson urged the **Balochistan government** to adopt **practical and effective strategies**, improve the police system, and hold law enforcement accountable to genuinely curb crime. He warned that failure to implement meaningful measures would **fuel public frustration and erode trust in authorities**.
