Sindh Govt Launches Probe Against Contractor Accused of Embezzling Billions

Karachi:Investigations have been launched against a contractor and his company accused of defrauding various Sindh government departments of billions of rupees.
According to details, Ali Hassan Civil and Electrical Works allegedly secured contracts worth hundreds of millions of rupees from multiple departments but failed to carry out any work on the ground. Over the past three years, the company reportedly obtained contracts amounting to several billions of rupees without delivering the required projects.
The Anti-Corruption Department has initiated an inquiry against the company’s owners, Irfan Sheikh and Ghufran Sheikh. As part of the investigation, the inquiry officer has written letters to chief engineers of the Education Works Department, Public Health Engineering, Works and Services Department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and other relevant departments.
In the letters, the inquiry officer has sought details of all contracts awarded to the company over the last three years, the extent of work completed, and the payments made. The departments have also been asked to provide information about the executive engineers who authorized the payments to the company.
