Massive Raids on Traders in Quetta’s Hazar Ganji Spark Outrage; PKMAP Demands Immediate Return of Seized Goods

**Quetta:** The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) strongly condemned the government’s recent raids on commercial centers in Quetta’s Hazar Ganji area, describing the actions as an “economic massacre” that deprives citizens of their right to earn a livelihood. The party’s provincial president Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan, senior vice president of Quetta district Syed Sharaf Agha, provincial vice presidents Majid Khan Achakzai and Mrs. Wardangah Luni, provincial general secretary Kabir Afghan, and other officials issued a joint statement criticizing the government for heavy-handed enforcement measures that included raids on markets, warehouses, and shops, state firing on traders and laborers, and the confiscation of goods worth millions of rupees.

The statement highlighted that such measures worsen an already fragile economic situation, push ordinary citizens to hardship, and foster social unrest. The PKMAP pointed out that border trade restrictions, the closure of petrol pumps, bans on rickshaws in Zaranj, and rampant corruption across checkpoints and municipal enforcement have left thousands of families struggling for basic sustenance, while youth face high unemployment due to the absence of industrial zones or large factories in the province.

The party demanded the immediate return of all seized goods from Hazar Ganji and other commercial areas, compensation for traders’ losses, and accountability for government and law enforcement officials involved in these illegal raids. PKMAP leaders warned that if the situation persists, it will continue to push citizens toward theft, robbery, and unrest, holding the provincial government, police, and district administration responsible for rising crime in Quetta.
